Are you still considering solar energy for your home or business? Don’t wait any longer. A new NEM 3 solar rate plan goes into effect on April 15. Go solar or add-on to your system before April 14 and lock into the NEM2 solar rate plan for 20 years and save 300% more. Hurry. Schedules are filling up fast. You only need to have your solar application submitted before the deadline. Installs can be scheduled up to three years from the application date.

Homeowners who submit an application for solar before 5:00 PM, on April 14, will (presumably) be able to lock into the NEM2 solar rate plan, as long as the application is complete and there are no discrepancies. Solar homeowners on the NEM2 rate plan will keep 300% more savings than on the new NEM3 rate plan.

In a stunning decision by the CPUC, the committee supported big utility companies and voted unanimously to transfer 80% of the solar energy savings back to the utility companies. The only way for a homeowner to work around this is to install solar + battery, and export all excess solar energy generation to their onsite battery system, for use during peak hours. The new NEM3 rate plan will make it financially disadvantageous to install solar by itself.
