Santa Maria is leading the county in solar energy adoption.

Solarponics has been installing sustainable energy systems in the Santa Maria Valley since 1975.

Today, the greater Santa Maria has over 5,000 solar-powered homes. This incudes Guadalupe, Orcutt, and Nipomo. That's the equivalent of removing 22 million lbs. of CO2 each year, or 550+ million lbs. of CO2 over the lifetime of the systems.

That still leaves over 9,000 more owner-occupied homes that can install solar energy and save money.  Do you own one of those homes? If so, call Solarponics today and find out if a solar Power Purchase Agreement is right for you.

A Power Purchase Agreement, or PPA, is a type of solar loan that requires no out-of-pocket costs from the homeowner. The solar and storage system is installed by Solarponics, and maintained by the third-party owner for the life of the system. Solar energy is sold back to the homeowner at a reduced rate from retail grid power, saving you money. Many homeowners on the Central Coast and in Santa Maria find the PPA option to be their go-to payment option. Call or click to discuss if a PPA is right for you.

Cash vs. financing vs. PPA. Which is right for me?

There are three ways to pay for a solar energy and battery backup system.

• Paying cash delivers the greatest savings, but obviously involves the large outlay of cash. You own the system, and you are also responsible to maintain the system.

• Financing a solar and storage system saves less than paying cash, as you are borrowing money and paying interest. This is a great option for those who don't want to use available cash, but still want to go solar, add safety, security, and save money. You own the system and are responsible for maintenance.

• A PPA, Power Purchase Agreement, allows homeowners to go solar with zero money out of pocket. A third party owns and maintains the system. The homeowner only pays for the solar energy that they use. The cost of solar energy is always less than retail grid energy, but the savings are small compared to financing or paying cash.

Solar PLUS Storage

All new solar energy systems come with energy storage, which also serves as backup power, adding safety and security. Why? PG&E only pays wholesale rate for any excess solar energy produced that is not used by the home, but charges full retail for energy used from the grid. So, during the day, when the sun is shining, excess solar energy is stored in a battery system for use during high peak energy rate hours in the evening, saving more.

Affordable Safety and Security with no money out of pocket.

A battery energy storage system, like the Tesla Powerwall or Franklin Battery, adds a level of safety and security. You will have back-up power in any outage. No more blackouts. Keep access to internet, security systems. Be able to charge your devices and open automatic garage doors.

Did we mention, no money down?
